AWG Working Relations

AWG has established working relations with the following entities, among others: International Air Transport Association (IATA) (many projects), UNIDROIT (Cape Town Convention), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) (Cape Town, Insurance and Liability), Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) (export credit), European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol) (navigation charges and liens), EC-mandated Aviation Insurance Clauses Group (AICG) (insurance), Aviareto  (International Registry and Cape Town) and government officials involved in the regulation of aviation around the world.  AWG is establishing specific working relations with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and Department of Transportation and with the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in connection with our work on aircraft technical requirements impacting transferability.

AWG works with IATA (mainly though the latter’s Finance and Legal Committees). AWG and IATA have taken joint positions on the Cape Town Convention since 1996, cooperated together in the field of war risk insurance and liability since 2001, and submitted a joint paper on BIS II. More recently, AWG and IATA are in consultation on lease accounting.

AWG works with ICAO on a range of matters within AWG’s statutory objects. Currently, AWG is actively involved in ICAO’s efforts on the Cape Town Convention (International Registry), as one of the main experts assisting in ICAO’s activities as Supervisory Authority of the International Registry. It is also active in ICAO’s efforts on the Modernization of Rome Treaty of 1952 (war risk liability).

AWG cooperates with various groups involved in manufacturing and leasing.

AWG maintains a close working relationship with UNIDROIT and other organisations involved in the development of modern financing law.
